Board

Emaile Hill Quinn

President
(Term: The President is a two year term of office. An individual may serve two consecutive terms in this office.)

Emaile joined the SOH Board in 2017 and became Board President as of 2019. After previously spending 14 years at Zappos and coordinating training events for other companies to learn about the Zappos culture and sharing keys to success, she made a career change and joined United Healthcare in 2022. Emaile’s mom is Shizue Hill, the SOH’s longest serving advocate. Shizue was with the organization for more than 22 years, until her death in late 2016. Emaile has carried on her mom’s passion as a board member, getting her workplace, family, and friends involved in the mission of Signs of Hope.

Kimberly Small

CEO

Kimberly Small has over twenty-five years of experience in education. She started her career as a Teach For America elementary school teacher for Compton Unified School District before moving on to teach for Los Angeles Unified School District for eight more years. After which she moved to the private sector working as a School Director for a nonpublic school for students with special needs. During her tenure at Specialized Education Services, Inc, Kimberly moved up the ranks serving first as Outreach Director, Business Development Specialist and ending her time as Director, Strategic Initiative.

Kimberly served as Executive Director for Network For Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), West. NFTE activates the entrepreneurial mindset and builds startup skills in youth from under-resourced communities to ensure their success and to create a more vibrant society.

Kimberly holds a Master of Science in Educational Administration, Master of Art in Education from Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA, and a B.A, from the University of Southern California located in Los Angeles, CA. She brings over 20 years of progressive leadership experience in strategic planning, partnership building, management, professional fundraising, program oversight, and collaboration with Boards and staff teams to uplift organizations and those they serve. Kim offers a fresh perspective and describes herself as a transparent and honest servant leader.

Michelle Walker

Vice President
(Term: The President is a two year term of office. An individual may serve two consecutive terms in this office.)

Michelle Walker has been a member of the SOH board since March 2017.

Michelle moved to Nevada from a small Midwest town in 2000 to experience city life and Las Vegas quickly became her family’s home”. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Southern Illinois University and has 25+ years’ experience in the healthcare industry. She has been employed with UnitedHealthcare (UHC) since moving to Las Vegas and is currently the Director of Account Management for the Nevada market. Prior to her current role in Account Management, Michelle has held a variety of project and leadership positions for UHC. Her tenure and experience in these positions have provided her an extensive background in provider network contract negotiations, provider credentialing oversight and provider relations management. Her continued commitment and passion to serving our community is demonstrated daily in her role with UHC and as a SOH board member.

Christine Kenney

Secretary
(Term: The Secretary is a one year term of office. An individual may serve up to four consecutive terms in this office.)

Christine joined the Signs of Hope Board of Directors in February 2019. Currently, Christine is the Program Director for Future Smiles, a nonprofit that works to increase access to children’s oral health care in Clark County. Prior to moving to Las Vegas in 2017, Christine was the Director of Educational Services at the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services for 18 years. Christine has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Suffolk University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Salem State University.

Zenja Dunn

TV, On-Air Radio Talent, and Host, born and raised in Las  Vegas, NV, Zenja is a graduate of UNLV with a BA in Communications 1996. Zenja is a 20 year radio veteran who has worked in Las Vegas and Los Angeles in a variety of capacities in radio and TV production with individuals such as Steve Harvey and Stevie Wonder.  Zenja is very passionate about the issue of sexual violence. She has completed the SOH Advocate training and been both an MC and Model in our Denim Day Luncheon and Runway Show. She joined the Board of Directors in 2017.

Shatoyia Nelson

Born and raised in Las Vegas, NV. Shatoyia Nelson recently finished her master’s degree in human relations from the University of Oklahoma. She also received her BA in Psychology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. With over eight years of experience in Human Resources, Shatoyia also holds a Professional in Human Resources certification. She is very passionate about serving the community that she has been a part of her entire life.

Renee Rivera-Shaffer

Renee has been working as the Compliance Officer for the TAO Group since 2012. Prior to that, Renee served as the Deputy Chief for the Enforcement Division of the Nevada Gaming Control Board for more than 25 years, and for four years as an Enforcement Agent with Clark County Business License. Renee holds a BA in Political Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Renee is extremely passionate about preventing sexual assault and developing partnerships with the Clubs and Casino Properties to keep everyone safe. Renee joined the Board of Directors in the summer of 2015.
